BERKSHIRE’S ROCK
CLIMBING GYM
Climbing starts in October
100 FOUNDING MEMBERSHIPS
Before we open to the public, we're releasing 100 founding memberships. Founding members climb two weeks early, pay no initiation fee, and keep their rate for as long as they stay.
First come, first served. Reserve with your first month down.
Your spot is guaranteed. We are still finalizing how many memberships the gym can support long term. Founding members are locked in regardless of where that number lands.
Reserve with your first month down. Your next billing cycle does not occur until one month after we open for climbing. We are planning for an October opening.
*Same monthly rate as a standard membership. One month is charged at signup; monthly billing resumes one month after opening for climbing. No long-term commitments, cancel anytime.
**Day passes will not be available during the founder only climbing period.

BUILT BY DREAMWALL
Our main bouldering wall runs 100 feet end to end, designed and engineered by DreamWall, a european builder in design collaboration with So iLL.
Nearly 2,000 square feet of climbing surface with a crew of New England setters joining us for the opening set.
Scale model of the main wall, showing the angles and roof sections as designed.
THE CLIMBING EXPERIENCE
The climbing at Berkshire Boulders is shaped and set by Dan Yagmin of Decoy Holds, who worked with us from the beginning on how the walls would be built and how they would climb. Thirty years of climbing and hold shaping, and a 2025 Favorite Hold Shaper award behind that work.
Beyond Dan's own sets, we'll bring in a rotating crew of setters, each with a different style, so the wall keeps changing and the problems keep asking something new of you.

Bouldering is a type of climbing that’s easy to start if you have not climbed before - it is rock climbing stripped down to its pure essentials. You can jump right in, no hassle with ropes or required courses. The walls are up to fifteen feet high and outfitted with thick cushy pads below to keep you safe. Your challenge is to climb short but tricky bouldering "problems" (a route, or sequence of moves) using balance, technique, strength, and your brain (“problem solving").
The climbs are high enough to be exciting and challenging, but not so high that they become overly intimidating. Falling is perfectly OK and expected - that is what the thick pads are built for. With bouldering, it is just you, the wall, and your homies.

Yes! See our youth programs page for further details.

We're limiting memberships to start, first come, first served. We are launching with a Founding membership, capped at 100. Those 100 members will get to climb and experience the gym for a few weeks before we decide how many more members we can add, from a safety and capacity standpoint. You can sign up for our waitlist here to be first to know when additional memberships become available.

We’ve got you covered. The only thing you need to boulder is a pair of climbing shoes and a chalk bag (to keep your hands dry). We rent both of these items at the gym to those who don’t have their own. Just wear something comfortable to move around in and come on by.
-
Absolutely - every experienced climber started there. If you have never climbed before, rest assured, you don't need experience or even any special gear to get going. Just wear something comfortable and we will handle the rest, renting you climbing shoes and chalk bags and providing instruction and a tour of the facility upon arrival.

Great Barrington and neighboring areas in the Berkshires are home to incredible climbing. Unfortunately, the majority of the climbing is not available to the public. Organizations such as the Western Massachusetts Climbers Coalition (WMCC) have been working hard to secure access so that these areas can remain in the public domain for future generations of climbers. The area known as the Reservoir is the crown jewel of bouldering in the Berkshires. Bouldering at the Reservoir is varied, extensive, and quite excellent. The Gneiss rock lends itself to technical and aesthetic climbing. The well known classics of the area include Roses and Blue Jays (V13), Something From Nothing (v11), Fatwa (v10), The Bump (V8), Big Big Love (V8), Fen Fen (V7), Green Goddess (V7), French Tips (V6), Spack (V4), and Scary Mantelo (V3), amongst many, many others. To learn more about this area, please become a member of WMCC here.
There are many other areas in Great Barrington and beyond to sport climb or boulder at. However these areas need protecting. Profits from Berkshire Boulders gets donated to protect outdoor climbing. Please consider supporting the Western Massachusetts Climber’s Coalition whose work makes rock climbing in Western Massachusetts possible.
